Cranberry Sauce is a typical American recipe used to accompany turkey for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Cranberries are a kind of berries of American origin, with an intense red color and a rather bitter taste. Often confused with common cranberries, often used to decorate cakes and desserts. It’s easy find the cranberries during the autumn period but even more in December before Christmas. Unlike common blueberries it is absolutely not recommended to eat them raw.
Cranberry sauce is a kind of jam, very simple and also quick to prepare. With a pretty sour tasty It’s perfect to accompany meats, roasts or cheeses. But also desserts such as cheesecake
Cranberry sauce Ingredients
- 350 g of cranberry
- 250 ml of orange juice
- 200 g of sugar
- orange zest
- 3 tablespoons of mulled wine or a liqueur of your choice
- star anise
Simply combine the cranberry with the orange juice, the zest, the sugar, mulled wine and star anise. Tip all the ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to the boil. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Remove saucepan from heat and let cool completely, then transfer to a resealable container and refrigerate.
The sauce keeps perfectly in the fridge even for a few weeks.
